yeah for new videos!!!!! What lhamas do you ride?himmelstein-127 2009-05-07 03:35:49 UTC
My adventure reading about your adventure started about a month ago when I rode from Landenberg to Newark on a nice Sunday. The ride alone the White Clay creek, first of the spring, took me to the two local bike shops, where I learned about your trip at WW while talking to the bike mechanic. In my youth, I toured Western PA on a fully load Le Tour. Even had a rack break once and splinted it back to life. In my 40ies, with the comforts of home, family and a great desk job, I long for the experience again. The first part of the journey though is to buy a touring bike. My hybrid mountain bike is not really suited to for the job. Your stories, videos, and pics are great, but I have not been able to identify your bikes. Could you share a description of each of your steel lhamas? Keep up the great blog. I take great happiness from it and await more. God bless. M. Bike TypesDaniel Lins 2009-05-08 04:47:31 UTC
Hey M. I ride a 2009 Raleigh Sojourn. It has disk brakes which I love. I put the ram horn shape handlebars (drop bars) on, but I really like the figure 8 type bars that chris and mike have. Chris rides a 2008 version of the same. Dan rides a 2007 Fuji Touring, and Mike rides a Surly (Long Haul Trucker, I think). Dan’s Fuji is not steel. I think it might be aluminum, and is holding up fine. He’s had a bunch of back wheel problems, but I think that’s from low quality rim as opposed to the frame. We all use Arkel paniers with front and back racks and handlebar bag. I had to get a new back wheel as well, from the heavy load and bad roads. Chris also got a new back wheel, but Mike hasn’t had any problems with his 26inch rims. The other three of us have 700c wheels. Any more specific questions, don’t hesitate to email me.
